Ingredient Introduction: It is a multifunctional solvent that serves as a preservative synergist and co-preservative in cosmetic formulations. It can be used to replace parabens or other undesirable preservatives. It can be used in combination with other ingredients to meet the requirement of being completely preservative-free. Lexgard H is compatible with most cosmetic ingredients and formulation systems

Raw Material Application: As a multifunctional raw material, the humectant and solvent can be used in cosmetic emulsion systems such as skin creams and lotions, or in surfactant-based systems such as shower gels, bubble baths, and shampoos. Lexgard H can also be used to control microbial growth. The recommended dosage is 1.0% w/w to 3.0% w/w. For emulsion systems, it is recommended to first disperse it into the aqueous phase. Lexgard H can also be dissolved in the oil phase to create an anhydrous formulation.

Solvent, (spice, essence, ink) diluent. Polyol with antibacterial effect, which can help moisturize and penetrate. When added at around 5%, it has a preservative effect, but its preservation effect after the product is opened cannot be compared to that of a true preservative.

1,2-Hexanediol. This polyol is currently not listed as a preservative, but is defined as a humectant and penetration enhancer. When added at around 5%, it has a clear preservative effect.

Therefore, most brands use such ingredients as substitutes for preservatives and claim to have preservative-free formulas. However, the antibacterial effect of these ingredients is relatively passive, making it difficult to control whether they are contaminated during use after opening.

The anti-corrosion environment after opening is significantly different from that during sealing. Therefore, the shelf life of products without preservatives tends to be conservative.

It is a diol with a refreshing sensation and excellent antibacterial properties, and also an alkanediol, a polyol with high antibacterial properties. Polyols have extremely high moisture absorption and water retention, making them the most commonly used humectants in cosmetics.
